Auditor Kovack Hosts
11th Annual Seals Awards Ceremony

Medina County Auditor Michael E. Kovack presented awards to
the winners and finalists of the 11th Annual Weights and Measures Seal Design
Contest at an awards ceremony held at the Medina County Career Center.
Auditor Kovack sponsors the contest every year, which asks high school
students to design "Inspected and Sealed" and "Passed Price
Verification" seals. These seals are placed on all scanners,
scales, gasoline pumps and commercial measuring devices used in the
county once the device successfully passes inspection.
Each student's design will be used by the Weights and Measures
Department for the 2011-2012 year and will bear the student's name.
"Every year we are so impressed with the creativity and professionalism of the
designs the students produce," said Auditor Kovack. "It is always very difficult to select the top two,
especially with the diversity of seal designs this year! All the entrants should
be congratulated for their work. They were outstanding. The students teachers,
Ms. Molly Jarvis (Cloverleaf), Ms. Sherry Hoover and Mr. Ron Kostechak (MCCC),
Mr. Larry Kaufman (Wadsworth) and Ms. Shelly Baltic (Black River)
deserve great praise. Their commitment to the education and training of
their students play a vital role in the success of those students."
