Kovack Sworn-In as President of the County Auditors Association of Ohio

Michael E. Kovack, Medina County Auditor, was recently sworn in as president of the County Auditors Association of Ohio (CAAO) by Ohio House Speaker William Batchelder, after being elected to the post by his fellow auditors in Columbus. As president, Auditor Kovack will lead the county auditors in the process of interpreting changes in the new biennial budget, examining government reform measures, reviewing major changes in a variety of taxation issues and addressing the general condition of the state’s economy and unemployment.

The CAAO membership includes all 88 Ohio County Auditors. Now in its 143rd year, it was established to promote and protect the interests of the taxpayers of Ohio and to improve the administration of county government.

Auditor Kovack has served as the Medina County Auditor since 1993 and has twice served as President of the Northeast Ohio Auditor’s Association. He holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Akron. He and his staff have been recognized for “Excellence in Accounting” by the Government Finance Officers Association each year he has been in office. Kovack, also a Commander in the United States Navy reserve, has been mobilized four times since 9/11 including twice overseas in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
