Every year the Medina
County Auditor's Office awards a $500 scholarship to an
outstanding senior graduating from a vocational program
at the Medina County Career Center or Wadsworth High
School. The auditors office employees raise the
money for this scholarship by selling candy and paying 50
cents to dress down on certain workdays. The student
chosen for the scholarship must demonstrate academic
excellence, school and community involvement, and possess
an aspiration to further their education. This year,
Spencer Schleigh was selected as the scholarship
recipient.
As a student of Wadsworth High
Schools Engineering Design and Technology program,
Spencer displayed dedication to his education by
maintaining over a 3.5 GPA and participating in various
school organizations, such as National Technical Honor
Society. However, Spencers achievements were not
only limited to his academics. He displayed exemplary
athletic talent as a four-year letterman for
Wadsworths Cross Country and Track teams.
Spencers outstanding personality and strong
leadership skills were also recognized by his teammates
when he was selected as the cross country team captain.
Spencer will attend Ohio
Northern in the fall and major in Civil Engineering. He
plans to continue his athletic career with the Ohio
Northern Cross Country team. Were certain Spencer
will be successful in whatever he wishes to accomplish.
Good luck, Spencer!
