Michael E. Kovack, the Medina County
Auditor, is the assessor of all property within Medina
County and, under Ohio law, must view and appraise each
of more than 77,000 parcels of real-estate in the county
every six years. By State mandate, the Auditor must also
update that appraisal every three years and adjust any
changes in property values. The triennial
reappraisal was completed in 2004. The full sexennial
reappraisal will be completed in 2007.
The Auditor's Office maintains a staff
of data collectors who collect information on each
property in the county to ensure an accurate
appraisal. You may see them in your area at
different times. They wear bright blue jackets or
shirts and carry tags identifying them as part of the
Auditor's Office. If you ever have a question
or concern about the data collectors, please feel free to
call our office at 330.725.9780.
The Auditor CANNOT AND DOES NOT
raise your property taxes. The taxes you pay are
determined by the budget requested by your local
governments and authorized by the voters in your
community.
