Auditor
Michael E. Kovack Receives
Certificate
of Achievement of Excellence in Financial
Reporting
Michael E.
Kovack, Medina County Auditor, announced today
that again this year, for the fourteenth consecutive time, the
Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in
Financial Reporting has been awarded to the
Medina County Auditor's Office by the Government
Finance Officers Association of the United
States and Canada for its Comprehensive Annual
Financial Report (CAFR). The Certificate of
Achievement is the highest form of recognition in
the area of governmental accounting and financial
reporting, and its attainment represents a
significant accomplishment by a government and
its management. Ms. Ann Wagar, Director of
Financial Reporting, prepared this year's CAFR
for publication.
The CAFR
has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the
high standards of the program including
demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full
disclosure" to clearly communicate its
financial story and motivate potential users and
user groups to read the CAFR. The GFOA is a nonprofit
professional association serving approximately
14,000 government finance professionals with
offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
Auditor
Kovack has received this award every year he has
been in office. "I feel it is a great
testimony to the high standards we have
established in the operation of this
office. I am very appreciative of this
special recognition from the GFOA."
