Thinking
Ahead to Colder Weather
Dear Medina County Residents,
Colder weather will soon be
here! With that comes the changing of the
leaves, the football games (already started),
bonfires and lots of great Fall activities.
But at some point, we will have to turn on the
furnace and start heating the house again.
And that brings me to an important government
program that may help you or someone you know.
This winter may be a tough one
economically for many residents of Medina County
and the issue of the cost of heating a home may
be a serious one for them. Help is
available in the form of federally-funded
programs which include:
Home
Energy Assistance Program (HEAP):
Designed to help eligible low income Ohioans meet
the high costs of home heating.
Emergency
Home Energy Assistance Program (E-HEAP):
Provides assistance once per heating season to
eligible households that are disconnected,
threatened with disconnection or have less than a
ten-day supply of bulk fuel.
Percentage
of Income Payment Plan (PIPP):
An extended payment arrangement that requires gas
and electric companies to accept payments based
on a percentage of the household income.
To find out if you are
eligible for any of these, how to apply for them,
and what other programs are available, please
call Community
Action Wayne/Medina at
330.723.2229.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Michael E. Kovack
Medina County Auditor
