Foreclosure Prevention Assistance
Dear
Medina County Residents,
We need
only turn on the television at night to hear that
the foreclosure situation continues to
escalate. There are many reasons, ranging
from unemployment or income loss, to homeowners who
have been used by unethical lending institutions.
Whatever the cause, the bottom line is that
across the country, including Medina County,
families are in trouble and need help. We are getting
an increasing number of calls from homeowners who
are at their wits end to find a solution. This prompted me to have some of my staff begin attending
state meetings about foreclosure. They have learned a lot
and continue learning all the time.
After a great deal of research,
I partnered with Empowering and
Strengthening Ohio's People (ESOP), a non-profit foreclosure
prevention agency. ESOP works with homeowners and their
lenders to negotiate and reach an affordable mortgage solution.
I hoped to implement this free mortgage assistance program
within my office. We were able to establish this service
after one of my deputy auditors, Denise, went through extensive
training with ESOP. She has since helped hundreds of
struggling homeowners.
Many of them have received assistance through the
Restoring Stability Program. You can
make an appointment with Denise to find some direction on what
would work for you.
However, the secret to this
is to
tackle the problem as fast and as aggressively as
possible. Don't wait until you have missed
several payments. The faster you deal with the problem,
the better the chances are that you will find a solution. To set
up an appointment, call my
office at one of the numbers below and ask for
Denise. There are no costs for our
services, so why not see if we can
help?
Sincerely,
Michael E. Kovack
Medina County Auditor
