ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE 2007 REAPPRAISAL
If I think
my value is incorrect, how do I appeal?
If you feel
your value is incorrect you may file a formal Appeal of the
Assessment through the Medina County Board of Revision. The Board
of Revision (B.O.R.) Complaint form (available
on our website)
must be filed with the Auditorīs Office no later than March 31st
of 2008 to be considered.
Filing of a
formal complaint triggers a hearing before the Board of Revision.
This is a formal process before a three person panel whereby the
complainant is required to present market value evidence in
support of their desired value. THE BOARD OF REVISION DOES NOT
DEAL WITH YOUR TAX BILL, TAX RATES OR THE APPRAISED VALUE OF YOUR
NEIGHBORīS PROPERTY. The Boardīs sole purpose is to value
property. The Board of Revision will prepare a formal review of
your property itself and has the authority to raise as well as
lower your property valuation based on the evidence.
Be advised
that, under Ohio law, the auditorīs valuation is presumed to be
correct and the burden of proof to change that market value is on
the property owner.
