Michael E. Kovack, Medina

at an Awards Ceremony held at the Medina County
Career Center on February 19th. The contest
challenges high school students to design the
seals used on all scanners, commercial scales and
gasoline pumps in the county.
This year's winners are
from the Medina County Career Center (MCCC),
Wadsworth High School and Cloverleaf High
School.
Destin Mungall from the
Medina County Career Center and Ben Schaible from
Wadsworth High School are the top winners and
will receive $100 United States Savings Bonds.
Second Place was shared
by Brandon Lugabihl, MCCC, Chrissy Hutchens,
Wadsworth and Ethan Dunbar from Cloverleaf.
Third Place went to Sami Kreider from
Wadsworth. Fourth Place was shared by Cindy
Safran, MCCC, and Jenna Gallagher and Nabil
Darwich, both from Wadsworth. Fifth Place
was awarded to Amanda Bosten from the MCCC.
Each student's design will be used by the Weights
and Measures Department
for the 2008-2009 year and will bear the
student's name.
Auditor
Kovack said, "Every year we are so impressed
with the creativity and professionalism of the
designs the students produce. It was very
difficult to select the top two, especially when
we had a record number of entries! We
actually awarded more winners than ever because
of the quality of the work. Several of our
winners were sophomores which is unprecedented.
All the
entrants should be congratulated for their
work. It was outstanding. Mr.
Ron Kostechak, Ms. Sherry Hoover, Mr. Larry
Kaufman and Ms. Molly Jarvis, the students'
teachers, should be congratulated also.
Their commitment to the education and training of
their students is an integral part of the success
of those students. I would also like to
compliment the students who sent in their designs
independent of any school. They too did a
terrific job and have great potential."
