Notice for all Propane Gas
Users
As of October 1, 1998, all new
small propane cylinders with a capacity of 4 pounds to 40 pounds
will be required to have overfilling prevention devices (OPDs).
By April 1, 2002, all small cylinders without OPDs cannot be
refilled.
OPDs are intended to be a
secondary means to protect against the overfilling of cylinders.
The primary methods are filling by weight using a scale or
filling volumetrically using the fixed maximum liquid-level
gauge.
When purchasing a new cylinder,
be sure it is labelled OPD compliant.
