Important Warning

Have you ever wondered why there
are signs at the gas station stating that all portable gas
containers should be filled on the ground? The reason is
very simple and very important!
Portable containers may contain a
static electric charge of several thousand volts as they
are moved from a storage area to your car. The hose of a gasoline
pump is grounded. As you insert the pump nozzle into the
container, the static electricity may discharge as a spark which
can possibly ignite the fumes in the gasoline container.
Placing
the container on the ground first drains off the static charge
and prevents the spark problem.
